Summary example

The euro has been our common currency since January 1st, 1999.

Observing euro usage leads to a distinction based on whether one considers solely the financial sector or whether one includes the other sectors. Indeed, the financial sector, on a worldwide level, has entirely adopted the euro as the sole currency within the "euroland" zone from the first week of January 1999. On the other hand, euro use by the general public remains sketchy.

The second major date is December 31st, 2001, which must be differentiated from January 1st, 2002.
